Helpful answer

The Intel Core i7-7700K belongs to the 7th generation of Intel Core processors (Kaby Lake), which are not officially supported by Microsoft for Windows 11. Windows 11 generally requires a CPU of the 8th generation or newer. Nevertheless, there are some options:

Options for upgrading or using Windows 11:
1. install Windows 11 despite unsupported CPU
- Microsoft makes it possible to install Windows 11 on unsupported CPUs with a workaround. Some settings must be adjusted manually (e.g. via a modification in the registry). However, there are restrictions:
- No guarantee for security updates or support.
- System stability could be impaired.
2. upgrade mainboard and CPU
- In order to obtain full support for Windows 11, it would make sense to upgrade the hardware to a compatible CPU (8th generation or newer) and possibly a compatible mainboard.
- Examples of suitable CPUs:
- Intel Core i5-8400 or newer
- Intel Core i7-8700 or newer
- AMD Ryzen 2000 series or newer
3. alternative operating systems
- If a hardware upgrade is not an option, you can stay on Windows 10 (supported until October 2025) or consider another operating system (such as Linux)
4. check and activate TPM 2.0
- Windows 11 also requires TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module). Check whether your mainboard supports TPM and activate it in the BIOS. If your mainboard does not have a TPM module, a hardware upgrade is necessary.

Recommendation

If you want to work with Windows 11 in the long term and need the latest functions and security updates, we recommend upgrading to compatible hardware (CPU + mainboard).

Ok, thanks for the info, I'm a cinema-digital installer and could assemble a PC myself but after all the info I'll probably better replace everything and buy a ready-made multimedia gamer PC, since the case is outdated and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 is not the fastest anymore I'll buy something new and have warranty again.

This is probably feasible.
This will require a new mainboard and CPU.
A new RAM may also be required.
I would build a new system... and no longer use a 14700k for it :).
