You don't need that. The Thunderbolt port on your MacBook still supports Thunderbolt digital video output. The monitor has two USB ports, but does not recognise the mouse or keyboard. How exactly do I have to proceed so that I don't have to reconnect the mouse/keyboard when I switch from my office laptop to my own tower, for example? Many thanks for your help!

The USB connections are more or less a USB hub, which must be connected to the PC with the USB type B cable. There is also the problem with switching, it is not a KVM switch. This means you have to patch the USB cable if you want to switch from the notebook to the tower.
