Seems to have only recently become part of the product. Unfortunately, it was not included in mine at the time 🙁

The possible limitation comes from the software. Virtusl DJ can certainly do it, but requires an expensive licence.
With Djuiced it works if you use two different controllers:

You can download Dj Pro for MAC. Check it out according to my opinion it should work
I use a mic with an on/off switch myself, I have the Inpulse mainly for streaming on Twitch.
When I communicate with viewers, I turn the mic on.

Rekordbox has some MIDI-capable functions, but there is no built-in support for non-Pioneer controllers. So you will have problems using Rekordbox.
It doesn't work with rekordbox, otherwise I've only used it with Djiuced.
