In my opinion, the description is simply wrong. It is not an adapter from mini Toslink (3.5 mm) to Toslink. Anything else would logically not work in this size either, it would need more electronics. Digitec should simply revise the description.

i have a Samsung TV without headphone output. can i connect this adapter to the optical output and thus operate the headphones via the 3.5 mm jack plug?

No! I thought so too. You need a converter. This connector does not change the signal from optical to analogue but only from optical toslink to optical 3.5mm.

I have a small TV BOX with an optical connection, if I connect the adapter to a wired speaker (jack), would the sound come out?

No, unfortunately that won't work. It's a 3.5mm optical toslink.
