Yes, you can send and receive text messages.
"With your phone you can send and receive SMS messages both via the fixed network and via VoIP. You must explicitly specify the line over which SMS messages are to be sent. You can receive SMS messages (SMS for short) via all connections of your phone except Gigaset.net. Your phone is delivered in such a way that you can immediately send SMS messages as soon as you have connected the phone to the fixed network. If you do not make any settings, the SMS are sent via the fixed network."

- Does the VOIP provider show a connection for the corresponding duration?
- Firewall active? RTP blocked? Manual NAT configuration? ...
The C530 IP does not have an answering machine. You must look for a model with the designation A in the type. If you want the 530 handset, this would be the C530 A IP. However, this is usually not available in Switzerland. The alternative is the C430A GO. This model comes with the GO Box 100 VOIP box. This can use SIP and has an answering machine. It can also be connected normally with an analogue RJ11 telephone connection. It often says DE version. This is not important. Works with all providers in Switzerland. VOIP with Swisscom, Sunrise and SIPcall is preconfigured. Smaller providers are regularly not preconfigured. Manual input is required there.
It is the station that provides the functionality.
You can pair pct phones that are not the same model, but the configuration menus will only be available on the model that matches the station.
I have even paired Phillips handsets to a Gigaset IP base in the past.
As long as the base station works, these handsets will work too.
It is not Plug & Play, you have to configure it. But here is a good guide for Gigaset 530 IP with Swisscom Box:

("Configure SIP phone")
Unfortunately, I can't answer that because I use a different provider. However, I think that the support from
Salt support should be able to help. Normally it should work. Read the operating instructions again carefully.
That depends on the router. I use a Fritzbox, which is the base station and establishes the connection via the Internet. I would first have to check whether you can connect to the Swisscom network with it. I don't have a Swisscom Fixnet number.
Under the following link you will find a direct comparison of the two devices:

As you can see in it, the item 3522689 Gigaset S850 A GO can be used as a landline device, whereas the model 2738882 Gigaset C530 IP only works via VoIP.
The Gigaset 530A IP has an answering machine in the base station. The Gigaset 530 IP does not have an answering machine.
For the Gigaset 530 IP I use the answering machine of my provider. So-called network answering machine.
