This is the revised model. It can be recognised by the protruding handles on the side.
The cover can be easily removed, for PLA printing it is recommended to print without a cover anyway.
That is correct - a faulty design. With a guide's own pressure, the problem is quickly solved. Thingiverse sends its regards. The model is quite old and there are better printers today. But for the printer is a workhorse and very reliable at a very low price.
Any 1.75mm diameter wire. The material depends on your application. PLA for a start is fine...

Q1: yes Q2: yes, start the loading function and feed the filament in. Q3: yes, the extruded is selected when generating the Slicing code for the part you want to print. Q4: only if you plan to use another filament. Otherwise cold filament can stay in the extruded. Q5: not recommended, the printing releases toxic fumes specially ABS. Anyway the printing process is noisy so it is not possible to sleep in the same room while printing.
