I also tried it on Discord, exactly the same. My old Astro A50 runs perfectly. I suspect the problem is with the amplifier. It doesn't deliver enough power for the MMX 300's mic.
I am completely in despair, the sound is great only the mic is muffled.

I use it with a Sennheiser of 50 ohms. I'm afraid this DAC would hurt with headphones that require 600 ohms.
with decent headphones, yes it is.
i have the senheiser gaming zero headset and the HD 630VB.
for example in witcher3 and other heavely ambient based games you will be amazed with the difference.

I don't understand why you would want to operate a headset with an integrated DAC via the GSX 1000. That's not the point and it doesn't do any good. If I were you, I would sell the ASUS headset and buy a good headset with 3.5 audio jack. Even a 100.- headset from Beyerdynamic or Sennheiser will sound better ;-) Or get rid of the GSX and just use the Asus. But I wouldn't do both together.

hello. the GSX 1000 is actually a sound card that works great for 3D sound, music and movies. excellent for games (setting ingame separate cat possible). However, the settings are only essential and limited. There is no software or drivers to install. it is good, but if you need a custom equalizer, it will be very limited. There is also a speaker output, but only stereo. The sound and rendering of the GSX are excellent, but offer fewer settings than a conventional external sound card. It depends on your needs. With the Pro version, you can connect several GSX 1000s directly to each other, for example in a LAN party. For the individual user, it adds nothing more. So useless if you use it alone at home.
