If the frame is not online you cannot send pictures, they remain on the waiting list in the app to be sent.

Possibilities ordered by simplicity for the visible part of the cable: Wrap the cable with white insulating tape (white electrician's tape from the DIY store, very small rolls). Paint the cable with white paint (can also be Tipex or nail varnish).... Replace the cable with a white cable, any handyman or electronics repair shop can do this. Buy a new white power supply in an electronics shop, take the existing power supply with you. If you search online: The power supply has information about output voltage (e.g. 6V) and output current (e.g. 800mAh). This must be identical on the new power supply unit. Then the plug must have exactly the same dimensions in millimetres on the inside and outside and plus/minus must be the same, i.e. either on the inside (usually plus) or on the outside of the plug.

Without the internet, I believe it is simply a digital picture frame.

Just use a USB cable and an "old" power supply. The iPhone power supply doesn't have enough power but the iPad power supply does.

Can you create categories? With hundreds of pictures, sometimes you only want to display topic-related pics (e.g. last holiday).

Is the picture frame suitable for grandparents? I.e. can I set it so that grandma doesn't have to press anything and no pop-ups etc. appear, and I can send new pictures myself via the app, which are then automatically included in the slide show without a message/confirmation?

Yes, that is possible. Depending on the format of the new pictures, you can still choose on the device whether the whole picture should be displayed (with black bars) or the whole screen should be filled (then the picture is cropped in one direction). But this is not a must.
