My question is the following: who actually needs this? Not trying to be condescending, but genuinely curious. If you are buying this, please let me know what your use-case is where USB-A to RS-232 was somehow not the solution.

When you have a laptop with only USB-C connections and need to communicate with the console of a network switch. At least that's my usage case. It's possible to use the USB-A ports on a docking station, but I didn't want to have to unplug everything from it, drag it along with power supply to the comms rooms in 2 sites.
