There are much better cpu cooling systems in terms of both quality and price, and for the second question, corsaire is locked in, so it's impossible or very difficult to choose another brand once you've signed up with them.

It depends on what kind of GPU you have. If the GPU has an integrated backplate then this is set enough, if not then you need a matching backplate that is compatible with your GPU. Corsair Hydro X Series XG7 would be an example.
