No. Under no circumstances does this Fritzbox replace the Swisscom router. For a DSL connection, this Fritz is missing the modem. For a fibre connection, the connection is also missing or you would need a media converter upstream. Operating Swisscom TV in such a configuration is an additional hurdle without in-depth know-how.

The difference lies in the designation "International" and the price. In the past, the "International" designation had the advantage with ADSL connections that the configuration of Annex A and B was adapted for Switzerland and commissioning was therefore easier. But this is hardly relevant today. The fact is that this Fritzbox does not have an ADSL modem built in. The "International" is therefore completely irrelevant. In addition, the German, not "International" Fritz Boxes receive updates faster and more frequently, which is why I have ordered Fritzboxes directly from Germany in the past. So I advise you to buy the cheaper version of this Fritzbox without the "International".

Hello Daniel Good idea to connect an original FB via LAN behind the UPC box (also behind the FB from Sunrise, on which a proprietary firmware with limited possibilities is running! that's how it works for me too. Of course, the FB 4040 doesn't have the same possibilities as the FB 7540, but as a pure WLAN router it is always sufficient. With the FB 4040 you have approx. 4 adjustable, different WLAN transmission powers. The mesh option of the FB 4040 is also great (for the future expansion of your WLAN!). Kind regards, Gerhard
