AVM FRITZ!Box 4040 International
can I use this Fritz!Box as a replacement for the Sunrise Box or do I have to connect it to the Wan port?
Anonymous is right, you need the Sunrise FB as a DSL modem and can connect the FB 4040 behind it via LAN port. In this way, 2 FBs run flawlessly as IP clients for me.
I can only recommend using it as a LAN, as Fritz!Box is generally very good for operating. Good software in German with which you can even deactivate the WLAN overnight. Using the box as a replacement for your Sunrise box means a lot of effort, as you can't easily get all the DSL settings from the operator.
My well-functioning configuration is the Fritz!Box 7490 from Sunrise as a DSL connection, then the Fritz!Box 4040 as an IP client connected to the Fritz!Box 7490 via a LAN cable. The 4040 is about 15 metres away from the 7490, so I always have optimal WLAN reception. According to my information, using the 4040 directly as a DSL box instead of an official Sunrise box would only be possible with a lot of effort. Mfg
