My Iphone 11 Pro loaded it, my Iphone 14 Pro didn't - does anyone know what the problem is and if it can be fixed?

It's not clear to me from the description whether the charging coil for the Apple Watch is built in there or whether you have to take your own and then somehow conjure away almost 1m of cable.

The charging coil for the apple watch must be installed separately. The holder is present and a USB connection is available in the base plate. The cable is neatly wrapped in the base plate. A successful solution.

Can you also use it to charge a Samsung Galaxy Watch5? Or do only Apple products work?

You can't charge a watch other than the Apple Watch because you have to place the charger supplied with the watch in the holder that's made for the Apple Watch charger.
