yes there is a region code restriction, as usual the region code can only be changed 5 times. However, if an alternative firmware (no idea if there is one at all) was installed, there would probably not be this problem, but I can't provide any further information here, as I have the original firmware on it.
It is actually a normal CD/DVD/BD reader and burner. This means that you should be able to insert installation CDs etc. without any problems. It could only be a little tricky if you want to reinstall the operating system. Then you may have to set something in the bios so that it boots from this device. But that does not affect you in this case.

Hi, the device runs on USB-A, 3.1, so 5GB/second, with 3.2 or 3.1 Gen 2 the port for the transfer would be USB-C. But the speed is quite sufficient.

It depends on which drive was installed by Asus. It doesn't work with the device I bought from digitec because the older firmware version cannot be installed. Put in another drive that is compatible, then it works.
