Are there any zone restrictions? Can I play my zone 1 US and 2 EU DVDs?

yes there is a region code restriction, as usual the region code can only be changed 5 times.
However, if an alternative firmware (no idea if there is one at all) was installed, there would probably not be this problem, but I can't provide any further information here, as I have the original firmware on it.
