It is possible to connect the A50 to the PS4 and the PC at the same time - as far as I can remember, the Astro A50 must also be connected to the PC via the AUX connection of the A50 charging station. This also works with the simultaneous use of the microphone. In any case, you can find a solution on Youtube.

As far as I know, you need the base unit from Astro for the Xbox. There is the Astro A50 version Xbox/PC or PS4 PC. You only need to order an adapter when switching to the PS5, as the PS5 no longer has an optical output.

The only thing I know is that they have improved the "headset recording", many have the problem that the headset does not charge properly when placed on the station and you have to move it several times or charge it via micro usb. The quality of the headset is great, only the above-mentioned shortcoming is annoying, and this should be fixed with the new version.

Hello Community I have a question about the Astro A50. I've had mine for a while, it's not the 3rd generation. It has been working perfectly with the PS4 for 3 years. Now I would like to connect it to my PC. Unfortunately, it only has a 3.5 mm mic jack and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Astro only has an optical audio connection. Can I now connect the headset to my PC with an adapter (Y-cable from mic-jack and audio-jack to optical audio connection)? And listen to the sound and use the MIC at the same time? Or is that the wrong approach? Or is there another possibility? Kind regards Andri Locher

Hello Andri, The easiest option would probably be to upgrade the PC with a sound card that has an optical audio output. This is also available as a USB sound card: StarTech 7.1 Channel USB Sound Card Greetings

Hello together I am honestly quite disappointed, the quality and fit is 10/10. However, I had to send the first one back after about 6 months because nothing worked anymore. The new one worked fine for months, but now I'm having problems again that I can't explain. My headset does not charge with the cable (so I can use it while it is charging), the LED light is always white and very rarely, depending on how I hold it, it turns orange (headset charging). Of course I have tried other connections as well as other cables, the problem is clearly with the headset. If I want to charge it in the charging station, this is only possible to a limited extent, I have to put it on 20-30 times for it to charge. Sometimes it shows 1 bar and as soon as I put it on it is practically full 3 out of 4 bars, also the other way round, headset is full 4 out of 4 bars, 5 minutes later it just switches off. Sometimes nothing works anymore and so I have to constantly reset it, change the connection, restart the PC and so on and so forth.... Very sad for such an expensive headset. I hear either very positive experience or very negative, not in between. I will definitely not buy a new Astro headset.

I have also had this error one or two times. With a reset, I was able to fix the error every time without fail. Next, press and hold the Dolby button* on the side between the on/off and EQ switch, together with the GAME button** on the outside right of the earphones, for about 35 seconds and release it again. (You may or may not plug it in via USB, you have to try it out).

Is it possible to operate the Astro A50 via AUX only, i.e. without USB? And if so, how? What do I need and what do I have to consider? I would like to connect my audio interface as an audio device and use the A50 only as headphones. LG Julian

Hello Julian, no, that doesn't seem to work. I tried powering the base station with a power bank, but it didn't start. If you connect the headset to the PC you can still select another audio interface as output device. Good luck and LG Michael

I have a problem with the astro a50 gen4 the headset goes haywire when i plug it in the volume control on my pc goes crazy and the pc connects quickly and consistently to other audio devices.... I have tried everything I can think of I need help.....

I can't help you because we bought the headphones for my son in 2017 and he was completely satisfied, then he also had problems and we exchanged them without any problems as far as I remember, if you have a guarantee then return them.

I have a problem with the astro a50 gen4 the headset has problems on my pc when i plug it in the volume control on my pc goes crazy and it connects very fast all the time with other sound devices. I have tried many things but nothing works I need help.

I did not have the problem with the volume control on the pc, but the pc always connects to another output device or input device. I simply deactivated all the devices that I don't need. Since then it has worked somehow.

I got my Gen 4 today and had to plug the optical connection into the TV because it is unfortunately no longer available on the PS5. But now I have the problem that the TV sends all the audio signals to the base station even if I only want to watch TV can I connect boxes to the aux of the base station to be able to output the sound via it?

Hello, I wanted to ask if it would also work to connect the charging station to a powered USB HUB that is connected to the PC and the power socket at the same time. Because I don't want to charge the headset when the PC is on, because that's when you want to use it.

This works without any problems. Firstly, every USB port supplies power, even without a power supply unit, and secondly, the headset is only charged when it is in the docking station.

I would update the USB drivers of your mainboard or try an alternative USB connection. Every now and then, the base is not recognised and then I plug the base into another USB port and everything works. First and foremost, however, I would recommend updating the drivers.

Have PC connected via USb Xbox connected via Optical As soon as the Xbox is switched on, the sound from the PC is gone. Help

This is probably because after switching on the Xbox, the sound is also taken from the Xbox. Overwrites the PC, so to speak. Since I can't test it myself, I recommend removing the optical from the Base Station when using the PC as a workaround. Greetings

Hello dear community, I am thinking of buying the a50 gen4. My question is whether I MUST connect the usb cable to the PlayStation or whether it is only for power supply. Could I also plug the usb cable in with a plug into the socket? Or does the usb cable have a special purpose? Thank you

Good evening The USB cable not only serves as a power source, but also as a transmission of the audio source. So when you connect this to your Playstation/Pc you get power, as well as the audio signal from the Playstation/Pc is transferred from the station to your headset. So you can NOT just use it in the socket, otherwise you won't get any audio from your Playstation/Pc. Except maybe a crackling sound from the power. :) Greetings and happy new year.

Is it possible to have the astro a50 connected to x box and PC at the same time. I don't want to hear the sound from the PC and x box at the same time. I would like to know if you can have the headset connected to both and if you can simply switch the x box PC switcher to hear the sound from which device and use the microphone on which device.

No, the microphone only works in the place where the USB cable is connected.

hi since i connected my a50 to the pc, the playstation doesn't recognise the microphone anymore. does anyone know what the reason could be? (yes i switched to ps4, but when i switch to pc the mic comes back into the game but no gamingsound).

Hello Kaancifci98 If you connect your Astro A50 to both the PS4 and the PC, the microphone for the PS4 no longer works. Unfortunately, this is a disadvantage. Connected separately, everything works perfectly. At least that's the case for me, if there is a possibility, please correct me. Greetings David

Good day You have 3 interconnection options: USB, Optical and AUX The Astro A50 already offers the function of using all 3 inputs simultaneously with the charging station. You have 2 options: 1. as it is intended by Astro: Connect your PS4 normally with the USB and Optical cable. Then connect your TV and the charging station with an AUX cable. You have to buy the AUX cable separately. 2. the way I do it: I only connected my charging station to my PS4 via USB. This way I can use the headset normally on the PS4. I then connected my TV to the charging station with the optical cable. This way I can use all devices without having to reconnect them.
