No, unfortunately the M 5 does not have a connection for an external antenna.
The battery cannot be removed, so in the worst case the hotspot is continuously connected to the device.

The Connect M5 is fast, give real 5G speeds, depending on the conditions of your network. ( hundreds of MBPS ) But I returned it because it randomly disconnected during the nights and I had to restart it on mornings, As I need it for work that was not acceptable. For non profesional use, is very good for the price
