The cable is suitable for extending the USB 3.0 cable by another 10m. The standard USB cable is limited to a maximum length of 5m. Using a USB 3.0 optical cable, the cable can be extended by 10m for a total cable length of up to 15m. The cable achieves a real USB 3.0 transfer rate but is not backward compatible with USB 2.0.
