PVA (Polyvinyl alcohol) is a water-soluble support material that is typically used with a dual-extruder 3D printer as a secondary material. The Chinese premium filament manufacturer Polymaker has developed a particularly high-quality PVA filament that works excellently in combination with PLA, TPU, PVB (PolySmooth), and Nylon (PA) filaments. PolyDissolve S1 offers greater design freedom. Complex models and geometries that were previously not possible can be realized with this PVA filament. The support structures do not need to be removed manually, as they dissolve completely in tap water. The wash water can then be poured into any drain connected to a wastewater treatment plant.

Since PVA is water-soluble, the printing material must be stored in a dry environment. Humidity can degrade the filament, making it unprintable. Therefore, we recommend the Polymaker Polybox for proper storage.

Applications for Polymaker PVA: PVA filaments are often used for 3D prints with complex geometries where flawless surface quality is required. The filament is frequently used for design prototypes and display pieces. In particular, architectural models or complex representations in mechanical engineering are often difficult to realize with FDM 3D printing. Hobbyists also use the material for detailed figures or models. The PVA significantly facilitates post-processing and enables components that would not have been possible before.

The V2 version is the new version where the filament is wound on a cardboard spool. The material remains unchanged.
