Pimoroni PIM208 - LiPo SHIM Battery Charge Controller for Raspberry Pi
Product details
LiPo SHIM Battery Controller for Raspberry Pi
The tiny LiPo/LiIon power supply SHIM for all versions of the Raspberry Pi!
Everyone loves mobile projects, but having a discreet, elegant, and tidy power supply solution is always challenging. The LiPo SHIM (formerly known as Zero LiPo) aims to provide you with the most compact Raspberry Pi power supply possible.
You can solder the 0.8 mm thick board directly to your Pi's GPIO pins for a permanent solution, or you can solder the included 2x6 0.1" header, which allows you to remove your Zero LiPo at any time (but blocks the GPIO pins).
Pimoroni uses the TPS61232 boost converter from Texas Instruments, which offers an efficiency of up to 96%. The board features LEDs that indicate power status and battery level. During shutdown (due to undervoltage or external selection), the quiescent current is only 15 µA.
The MagPi describes the LiPo SHIM in its four-star review as "a clever piece of kit" and "a great option for safely powering a portable project."
