The Solarline generator connection boxes (GAKs) are used in both small rooftop systems and large ground-mounted installations. The main tasks of the GAKs are to provide surge protection for the PV system, potentially collect strings, and loop the protective equipotential bonding conductor to the local equipotential bonding. Additional functions are optional and depend on the equipment. Examples of optional features include string protection through string fuses and the disconnection of strings via DC load break switches or DC fire service switches.
