The pen, which features a push mechanism, is named after its clip. When the refill is extended, it snaps into the push mechanism. Pressing the upper part of the clip releases the mechanism and retracts the refill.

The Snap ballpoint pen is primarily made of recyclable metal. Both the push button and the aluminum barrel are cylindrical in shape, which transitions into a conical brass tip.
