Product details
These silver meditations on beauty are characterized by the delicacy of the patterns and a high level of detail. The word "filigree" comes from the Latin "filum" (thread) and "granum" (grain). The filigree covers are adorned with leaf motifs and closures. The original for our models Shadow, Nature, Soft Pink, and Maya Blue was created in 1697 in Strasbourg, France, for the work "Paradise Garden" by Johann Arndt (1555–1621). The basic design, made of handcrafted, gilded, and polished silver, was initially punched from silver sheets before the intricate patterns were engraved into it. The same technique was applied in Germany at the beginning of the 19th century for the design that adorns our models Eggplant and Esmeralda. Filigree art is a poignant testament to humanity's drive to delight the eye and spirit while simultaneously attracting attention. It is not hard to imagine these books containing important information in ancient times, just as they would today on a well-equipped desk of our era.
