Multi-function printers

I need a printer. Which printer should I buy? With over 400 models, it's easy to lose track if you don't ask yourself a few questions beforehand. Are you looking for an inkjet or laser printer? Should it be a black and white printer (mono laser) or a colour printer (colour laser printer or ink jet printer)?

Almost every model prints, scans and copies DIN A4, DIN A5 and letter format. If you print frequently and only want to print texts or documents, then a monolaser is the cheapest option. If you print frequently and also want to print in colour in between, then you are well advised to use a colour laser. Manufacturers such as Canon (PIXMA G series), Epson (WorkForce and EcoTank) and HP (PageWide) also have inkjet printers on offer, which can score with a low page price or compete with a laser printer in speed. If you occasionally want to print photos, an inkjet printer from Canon (PIXMA TS), Epson (Expression Photo, EcoTank Photo) or HP (Envy Photo) is the right choice. For the office, the HP model series (OfficeJet Pro and LaserJet Pro) have been classics for years.

Laser printers stock almost all popular printer brands: Brother, Canon, HP, Kyocera, Lexmark, OKI, Ricoh, Samsung and Xerox. The printers often differ only slightly and each brand has different models with different configurations in the range: ADF (automatic document feeder) and duplex printing (double-sided printing) are now standard with a laser multifunction printer, but duplex scanning and faxing are not. The same applies to connectivity: most models can be connected to the end device via USB or a network connection (LAN). Wifi capability (WLAN) is also often integrated or can be purchased through adapters, while NFC connectivity and Bluetooth connectivity are even less common. The paper capacity can often be expanded, especially with more expensive laser printers, by purchasing additional paper trays. Laser printers are mainly used in the business environment, but are also finding an ever larger clientele in the home office sector due to falling prices. Prints up to DIN A3 are no problem with the colour laser printers from Kyocera, OKI, Ricoh, Samsung or Xerox or the inkjet printers from Brother, Epson and HP.

In addition to a large selection of MFPs (Multifunctional Printers), you will also find consumables such as ink cartridges or toners as well as printer accessories such as paper trays, warranty extensions or image drums for your printer in our online shop.

Duplex scanning

Duplex scanning is a feature of computer scanners and multifunction printers (MFPs) that allows the automatic scanning of a sheet of paper on both sides. Devices without this capability can only scan a single side of a sheet of paper at a time.

In general, duplex scanning is achieved on multifunction printers using a Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (RADF). Duplex scanning is achieved on computer scanners by either RADF or by single pass duplex scanning using two cameras; one for the front side of the document and one for the back side of the document.

On MFPs, it is common to find duplex scanning on devices that also have duplex printing capabilities.

USB

USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an industry standard developed in the mid-1990s that defines the cables, connectors and protocols used for connection, communication and power supply between computers and electronic devices.

USB was designed to standardize the connection of computer peripherals, such as keyboards, pointing devices, digital cameras, printers, portable media players, disk drives and network adapters to personal computers, both to communicate and to supply electric power. It has become commonplace on other devices, such as smartphones, PDAs and video game consoles. USB has effectively replaced a variety of earlier interfaces, such as serial and parallel ports, as well as separate power chargers for portable devices.

Fax properties

i

Fax properties

Fax (short for facsimile), sometimes called telecopying, is the telephonic transmission of scanned printed material (both text and images), normally to a telephone number connected to a printer or other output device. The original document is scanned with a fax machine, which processes the contents (text or images) as a single fixed graphic image, converting it into a bitmap, the information is then transmitted as electrical signals through the telephone system. The receiving fax machine reconverts the coded image, printing a paper copy.

10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Snow Leopard was released on August 28, 2009 and, as announced by Apple at WWDC on June 9, 2008, this version of the operating system mainly contains improvements and few new features. The focus is on the improved utilization of current computer hardware - computers with PowerPC processors are no longer supported from this version, so an Intel processor is a condition. With Grand Central Dispatch and the Open Computing Language, a significant increase in performance is to be achieved by combining multi-core main processors with powerful graphics processors (GPGPU) under one central programming interface. There is also extended 64-bit support in the operating system kernel. The Finder has been completely rewritten and is now a 64-bit application. Most of Apple's pre-installed applications now also run in 64-bit mode, but can be started in 32-bit if required. QuickTime X supports modern multimedia codecs better, plus native support for Microsoft Exchange 2007 in Mail, Address Book and iCal. The application has been available for access to the Mac App Store for Snow Leopard since January 6, 2011.

MC362dn (Laser/LED, Colour, Duplex printing)
