Product details
Create your own smart LED arrangement using the same integrated LED found in our NeoPixel strip and pixels. These tiny 5050 (5mm x 5mm) RGB LEDs are relatively easy to solder and are the most compact way to integrate multiple bright LEDs into a design. The driver chip is built into the LED and has a constant current of ~18mA, ensuring that the color remains very consistent even when the voltage fluctuates, and no external current-limiting resistors are needed, keeping your design minimal. It operates on 5VDC, and you're ready to rock.
This is the S revision of the WS2812 LED chips with 6 pins!
The LEDs are cascadeable by connecting the output of one chip to the input of another - see the datasheet for diagrams and pinouts. To allow the entire chip to fit into a 6-pin package, there is a single data line with a very time-specific protocol. Since the protocol is very time-critical, it requires a real-time microcontroller like an AVR, Arduino, PIC, mbed, etc. It cannot be used with a Linux-based microcomputer or an interpreted microcontroller like the Netduino or Basic Stamp. The LEDs essentially have a WS2811 inside, but are fixed to the 800KHz 'high-speed' setting.
Packaged with 10 individual LEDs.
