The game breaks with several conventions of the series. For example, many of the weaker enemies no longer appear individually but in larger groups. Link can move more freely than ever before: to get a better overview of his surroundings, he can climb towers and massive structures, and as a summit climber, he can conquer any mountain. He then glides back down with his paraglider, and if that feels too slow, he simply uses his shield as a base for a thrilling slide. Even the weather conditions change repeatedly in this dynamic world, and if Link is to survive, players must take this into account. A sudden downpour can extinguish any campfire, and during thunderstorms, metallic weapons can attract lightning. Additionally, Link should always pay attention to the right clothing, as his journey takes him through a variety of areas with different climates. In this vast world, there are over 100 Shrines of Trials filled with traps and puzzles to discover. The order in which players explore these is entirely up to them. As Link fights his way through a shrine, he receives special items and rewards that will benefit him on his further journey. The puzzles can often be solved in more than one way. There are also plenty of secrets to uncover. Exploring and discovering is the essential fun of Link's new adventure.
