If you connect both Joy-Con with the Joy-Con holder, you can use them like a traditional controller. Without the holder, you can use both independently as two separate controllers. The Joy-Con can each be used vertically or horizontally for gaming, but playing with one Joy-Con per hand is also possible.

A whole new gaming experience awaits you. Imagine the Joy-Con as a glass with ice cubes. Thanks to the HD vibration, you can feel the ice cubes moving in the glass when you move the Joy-Con.

Feel shape, motion, and distance with the Joy-Con's infrared motion camera, which detects shapes, movements, and the distance of objects the camera sees. For example, it can tell if a hand is currently pointing scissors, rock, or paper. With this new feature, there are now more input methods available than ever before!

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes all the tracks and characters from the Wii U version, as well as all the tracks and characters that were previously only available as downloadable content. Plus, a few new characters join the driving fun: the Inkling Boy and Girl from Splatoon, King Buu Huu, Bone Dry, and Bowser Jr.! In addition, Battle Mode has been revamped to feature Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Throw, new tracks like Decabahn Station and Battle Arena, and returning tracks like Luigi's Mansion from Mario Kart: Double Dash for the Nintendo GameCube and Battle Course 1 from Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

If one item was never enough, you can now look forward to having two items on you at once. New items from previous titles in the series are also included this time, such as Buu Huu, which steals items, and the feather, which enables especially high jumps in battle. Another new feature should please beginners in particular: the so-called smart control makes it much easier to stay on the road while driving. This means that even children can prove themselves in 200cc races. The game is played locally or online in TV mode with up to 1080p.
