This compact 600 mm lens was developed for freehand photography and offers impressive image quality. From wildlife to birds, motorsport, aeroplanes and more, photographers can capture the speed, power and grace of distant subjects with amazing detail. Weighing approximately 1470g (with tripod adapter), the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S is the lightest 600mm fixed focal length lens in its class thanks to the use of a highly specialised phase Fresnel lens element. As the centre of gravity of the lens is closer to the camera body, it is exceptionally well balanced and enables very comfortable freehand shots: Photographers can move fluidly despite the long focal length of 600 mm, even when panning or shooting overhead.

Whether photos or films: Nikon's high-performance super-telephoto lens delivers impressive images with the sharpness and pleasing bokeh that only a fixed focal length S-series lens can offer. Even when shooting through dusty air or directly into the sunset, the images are razor-sharp and clear at any aperture. The powerful image stabiliser in the lens allows blur-free and sharp images with a correction of up to 6.0 stops of light even in low-light situations, e.g. at dusk or in a dense forest. Those who photograph wildlife and birds will appreciate the quiet, precise autofocus, which tracks and focuses on subjects almost silently. Thanks to its reliable sealing, this lightweight 600 mm lens is ideally equipped for harsh environments and uncertain weather conditions. For even more reach, the NIKKOR Z 600mm f/6.3 VR S can be combined with a Z-series teleconverter without compromising resolution.

Lens type

Bayonet lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.
