Product details

Fashion, Editorial Team, art, events, documentary. From captivating stories to imaginative creative concepts: this fast 35 mm lens captures the light perfectly.

Every element of a scene is faithfully reproduced. Skin tones look wonderfully natural. Fine details such as hair or materials are depicted with rich colours and contrasts.
colours and contrasts.

From night shots with multiple point light sources to dramatic backlighting: full control over the light and how it is used.

At open aperture f/1.2, even the smallest details of a scene can be focussed in front of a round, softly graduated bokeh, even in close-up shots.

The speed of f/1.2 opens up scope for creative influence on depth of field and bokeh - with suppressed focus breathing. Linear focussing can be activated via the focussing ring for controlled manual focusing.

The high-performance meso-amorphous coating, ARNEO coating and nanocrystal coating eliminate stray light and ghost images. ED glass (Extra-Low Dispersion) and aspherical ED glass prevent colour fringing, distortion and aberrations.

Even at f/1.2, i.e. with a wafer-thin depth of field at the sensor level, Nikon's fast, quiet and precise multi-focussing system with two stepping motors ensures that the focus point remains sharp.

The extensive weather sealing protects the camera and bayonet from dust, dirt and moisture. Two function buttons (L-Fn) ensure convenient shooting in portrait and landscape format. The setting ring is customisable.

  • PositiveThe image quality achievable with the Nikkor is as outstanding as you would expect from an S-series lens. This applies to sharpness, contrast and bokeh, for example.
  • NegativeTop quality comes at a high price: if you opt for the Nikon lens, you will pay a four-figure sum in euros and have to put up with its size and heavy weight.

Excellent image quality including a beautiful bokeh effect and the creative advantages of a reportage focal length of 35 millimetres speak in favour of the Nikon. Its price and high weight, including the handling disadvantages, make it a solution only for professionals.
