Product details

Discover unique opportunities. With this bright and versatile lens, you can respond to your surroundings at any time. Whether it's street scenes, landscapes, or portraits, the compact Nikkor Z 28-75 mm f/2.8 gives you the freedom to create. Enjoy artistic brilliance and beautiful bokeh with this lightweight zoom lens. Explore the creative potential of shallow depth of field or shorter exposure times in natural light. Experiment with a range of classic focal lengths, while the constant aperture of f/2.8 ensures even exposure throughout the entire zoom range.

The large diameter of the Z mount, the high brightness of f/2.8, and the nine rounded aperture blades work together to make your sharply focused subject stand out against a beautifully natural background blur. Create images with dramatically limited sharpness or elevate your portraits to another level.

With its high brightness, this lens offers excellent performance in available light. Capture clear, sharp images in low-light situations or freeze motion with shorter exposure times without compromising brightness. The extensive zoom range into the telephoto area invites experimentation with composition. At 28 mm, you can fit more into the frame. At 75 mm, you can achieve compelling portraits. Try out dramatic perspectives – get closer and fill the frame from high or low angles.

... At 75 mm, the open aperture is less convincing. The resolution is ok, but in the centre of the image it remains 300 line pairs below the best results of this zoom. The contrast is similar. Stopping down raises both values again to a very good to excellent level. The edge fall-off now corresponds to the good values at 46 mm. All in all, slight weaknesses at 2.8/75 mm, but clearly recommended.

  • PositiveGood resolution, top lens quality
  • PositivePrecise autofocus
  • NegativeWithout integrated image stabiliser
  • NegativeWithout buttons and switches on the housing

In summary, the Nikkor Z 28-75mm f/2.8 scored 89.6 per cent and the test mark VERY GOOD. In comparison with the 24-70mm f/2.8 S, the new lens loses a few points in resolution and features, but at just €889 it is a full €1,410 cheaper than the S-Line lens.

  • PositiveThe Nikon convinces with very good test results, its high-quality workmanship and its many possible uses.
  • NegativeUnfortunately, the lens lacks its own image stabiliser that could work together with the camera stabiliser. An AF/MF switch would be handy.

After the Nikkor Z 40 mm f/2 already surprised with an astonishing performance at just as good a price, Nikon is bringing another banger to the market with the Nikkor Z 28-75 mm f/2.8. It provides the most important focal length range and high speed at a manageable cost.
