Closer. Further away. This 28-400mm all-purpose zoom lens is so compact that you can leave it on your camera – the possibilities are endless. Take it with you wherever your journey leads. The extremely versatile focal length range offers 28mm in the wide-angle range, 400mm in the super-telephoto range, and everything in between. From landscapes in wide-angle to street scenes and action shots with the telephoto, to close-ups in nature. Weighing only 725g, this wide-angle to super-telephoto lens is impressively easy to handle. You can effortlessly follow and capture subjects, even when the lens is extended to 400mm.
In the wide-angle range, you can focus at a distance of just 0.2m, and at a zoom of 400mm, even at a distance of 1.2m. The maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8 allows for stunning close-ups. The built-in optical image stabilizer with 5.0 stops counteracts camera shake and ensures sharp images even in low light. When used with a Nikon Z camera equipped with Synchro-VR, the correction extends to 5.5 stops. Nikon's fast, quiet stepping motor ensures quick focusing and provides near-silent operation. The silent focus ring is customizable. A zoom lock prevents the lens from extending when not in use. The included lens hood can be reversed to save space when storing the lens. No matter the weather. The reliable sealing around the mount and all moving parts prevents dust and water droplets from entering the lens barrel.

Source: Digitec GalaxusThe superzoom from Nikon is above all practical - and achieves a good optical quality commensurate with the price.
When a manufacturer integrates such a focal length range into a compact body, it automatically has to compromise on resolution. This is also demonstrated by the new Nikon megazoom in the lab test. The resolution is nowhere near that of fast fixed focal lengths and zoom lenses. Nevertheless, the resolution is not disappointing...
