The third-person action-adventure Hell Is Us combines exploration, combat, and elements of horror. Its main character embarks on a journey to uncover information about their background in a country ravaged by civil war. However, this almost independent nation harbors a dark and terrifying secret. Supernatural beings reminiscent of the area’s monuments and gravestones have recently emerged into the world.

The player-controlled character inevitably collides with these creatures but is fortunately equipped with the right weapons and supplies. The task of defeating these beings is not easy, so there is much to explore and uncover. The war-torn environment offers plenty to find and see, albeit in a spine-chilling manner.

Hell Is Us differs from many new games in that it does not explain and highlight everything the player discovers and experiences. Things are not overly simplified but rather leave room for personal interpretation and conclusions. This way, the player can experience the joy of realization instead of being overwhelmed by information.

The game does not feature detailed map views, mission pointers, or compass arrows pointing to objectives. Players must observe, deduce, and come up with their own solutions and directions to explore.
