The serial device servers NPort 5000AI-M12 have been designed to quickly network-enable serial devices and provide direct access to these devices from anywhere within the network. Additionally, the NPort 5000AI-M12 complies with EN 50121-4 and all mandatory sections of EN 50155 related to operating temperature, input voltage, surge, ESD, and vibration, making it suitable for use in rail vehicles and at train stations where the operating environment is subject to strong vibrations.

The web-based 3-step configuration tool of the NPort 5000AI-M12 is simple and user-friendly. The web console guides the user through three easy configuration steps necessary to activate the Serial-to-Ethernet application. With this quick, web-based 3-step configuration, a user typically only needs about 30 seconds to complete the NPort settings and activate the application.

The NPort 5000AI-M12 device servers support SNMP, which can be used to monitor all units over Ethernet. Each device can be configured to automatically send trap messages to the SNMP manager when custom errors occur. For users who do not use the SNMP manager, email notifications can be sent instead. Users can define the triggers for alerts using Moxa's Windows utility or the web console. For example, alerts can be triggered by a warm reboot, a cold reboot, or a password change.
