Product details

For most companies, the performance of IT equipment is crucial for daily operations. To ensure that a server, router, telephone system, or dedicated line modem functions properly, it is important to minimize downtime and quickly resolve faulty devices. KVM is typically used for in-band management of devices equipped with a monitor and keyboard. However, RS-232 console access is often used as a last resort for all devices.

The CN2510 provides a simple console management solution in a convenient 1U rackmount package. With its RS-232 ports, it easily connects to the console ports of network devices such as UNIX servers or routers, allowing for centralized management of the connected devices. The RS-232 console port of each device becomes a network-accessible node, enabling users to access the device for configuration and management via Telnet from anywhere on the network. All modem control signals are supported, ensuring compatibility with a variety of serial peripherals.

It is very important that access in a console management solution is strictly controlled, and user privileges should be validated before allowing a console port connection. The CN2510's authentication process includes verifying the username and password against an internal database or a RADIUS server.

When a dial-up connection is used for out-of-band management, the CN2510 offers a convenient dial-back feature. Instead of accepting a connection request directly, the CN2510 calls back the management host to establish the connection. The dial-back function ensures that only registered users or hosts can connect...
