MikroTik GPER - Gigabit Passive Ethernet Repeater

The Gigabit Passive Ethernet Repeater (GPeR) is part of MikroTik's new GPEN concept (Gigabit Passive Ethernet Network), which aims to replace GPON installations with more cost-effective and easier-to-implement Ethernet alternatives.

With the GPeR unit, the Ethernet cable can be extended by an additional hop (up to 100 - 150 m to standard network devices and up to 210 m to another GPeR unit) for a total distance of up to 1,500 m. This is particularly useful for high-rise buildings such as apartment complexes with many floors and sections, where very long Ethernet cables can pose a problem.

The maximum allowable length of Cat. 6 Ethernet cables between the GPeR and the power source/router is up to 100 m (depending on cable quality, high quality - up to 150 m). The maximum allowable distance of Cat. 6 Ethernet cables between two GPeR devices is up to 210 m (depending on cable quality).
