Micro Swiss MK10 0.4 mm All-Metal Hotend

This is an all-metal hotend upgrade kit for MK10-style extruders. The heat break is made from two different materials. The lower thermal break is made of stainless steel, while the cooler upper part is made of aluminum. Stainless steel is used for the thermal break because it offers low thermal conductivity, and aluminum is used for the upper part because it has much better thermal conductivity to dissipate any heat from the filament.

With an all-metal hotend, you can print at much higher temperatures than with the original PTFE-lined hotend. Another advantage of an all-metal hotend is the more consistent control of the melt chamber. At slow extrusion speeds, the transition zone between solid and molten plastic in PTFE-lined hotends tends to creep upward, resulting in stringy prints. In the all-metal design, the transition zone remains constant as it is directly at the heat break.

At high extrusion speeds, the PTFE tube does not have enough thermal conductivity to properly melt all the exiting plastic. For MK10 extruders, this limitation occurs at around 60 mm/s, depending on the nozzle size. The all-metal hotend solves this problem as the plastic is surrounded by a thermally conductive nozzle throughout its entire length.

The kit includes:

• 1 wear-resistant nozzle made of plated brass
• 1 thermal tube
• 1 thermal paste

Available nozzle sizes: 0.2 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm, 1 mm, 1.2 mm
