Product details
The MekaMon is a small robot that allows for spectacular battles. The fighting takes place in an augmented reality world. Essentially, the MekaMon is a toy robot the size of a shoebox, reminiscent of the spider tanks Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell. It is controlled via the accompanying app for iPhone or Android smartphones. It can walk on its four legs, duck, tilt, roll, overcome small obstacles, or play dead. It becomes exciting when used with a camera. When you aim the robot and a specially patterned mat, a virtual battlefield with obstacles like boulders, buildings, and walls forms around them. In a single-player campaign with various missions, players must use the MekaMon to protect labs from hostile slime aliens, take down weapon towers, or shoot down combat drones. For this, the robot is equipped before the battle with plastic attachable weapons and a virtual arsenal of shields, laser cannons, EMP grenades, and missiles. The weapon systems are activated through the app's touch interface and are dramatically displayed on the screen. Projectiles whiz around and explode in fireballs. Up to four players can compete against each other with their MekaMon and engage in battles. They are linked together via infrared sensors. Hits from energy blasts or laser spears are registered, prompting the small robots to react with jerky movements. Similar to a video game, the robots have a health bar that decreases with each attack. However, these plastic spiders are not designed for real battles with physical combat.
