These cables are designed for operating frequencies of up to 250 MHz. They are used for signal transmission with high data transfer rates of 1 Gbps. Due to the high signal frequencies, careful installation and assembly are essential, especially at the connection points of the conductors. The individual pairs in Cat6 cables are twisted with varying tightness, which further reduces susceptibility to interference compared to Cat5e. Applications for Cat-6 cables include voice and data transmission as well as multimedia and ATM networks. Even more powerful are cables according to Cat6e (500 MHz) and Cat6a (625 MHz).
