Why choose zinc-air technology for hearing aid batteries? Zinc-air hearing aid batteries have an exceptionally high energy density and provide an almost horizontal discharge curve. They are the optimal power source for hearing aids. The battery's air holes are initially covered with a protective film to keep them in "standby" until needed. The self-discharge rate of zinc-air batteries with the protective film is only about 3% per year. The film is removed when the battery is inserted into the hearing aid. After a few seconds of activation time, the battery begins to deliver power. In the activated state (film removed), zinc-air batteries have a limited shelf life and should be used as soon as possible.
