Honeywell's Voyager 9540 houses a laser scan engine that captures any barcode quickly and cleanly at 72 scans per second. The Voyager 9540 has a versatile configurable decoder that handles the decoding
and transmission of the barcode to the PC.
With the CodeGate function, the Voyager 9540 offers a sophisticated and patented barcode reading feature. This unique scanning technology makes bar code reading easier and safer for the operator: the bar code sensor activates the scanner like a motion detector when a bar code is held in the field of view. Without CodeGate, any barcode read in this way is immediately decoded and automatically transmitted to the PC. This is convenient and practical, but not always suitable for all applications: When reading multiple barcodes from lists, for example, the wrong barcode could easily be transmitted. That's why Honeywell developed the CodeGate button for the Voyager 9540. This button is ergonomically located on the top of the device and is operated with the thumb. When the CodeGate function is switched on, the scanner activates automatically as before and reads the barcode. However, its information is not transmitted until the user presses the CodeGate button to confirm that the correct barcode has been read. Whenever it is necessary to ensure that only the correct barcode is transferred, this feature is very helpful. In addition to menu scanning from lists, a CodeGate scanner is useful, for example, when there is more than one barcode on a sales package (e.g. cell phones, electronics, medical technology). With the Voyager 9540, the CodeGate function is turned on or off simply by reading a programmable code. Without CodeGate, the Voyager 9540 then operates like a Voyager 9520.
Normally, scanners with a keyboard switch are supplied with the required voltage via the keyboard switch of the computer. However, some mainboards do not supply enough voltage for this. In this case we recommend an additional power supply. It is compatible to all Honeywell scanners with keyboard switch. KBW Kit: light gray scanner (MS9540-47), stand (46-46128 and 46-46351), coiled KBW PowerLink cable (53-53002-3) and documentation.
