This strange little device is a gift from heaven to a number of photographers who have been lucky enough to find a bargain in a high quality professional roll film or large format camera in the sales pillars or junk shops. Such cameras have traditionally been designed for large, professional tripods that have a larger mounting screw (9.5 mm, 3/8) attached to them. While current professional tripods and heads can offer this adjustment as an option, these are very expensive and often the photographer already has a tripod. This small adapter allows the mounting of the larger base (9.5 mm, 3/8) on more conventional tripods available today and uses the smaller (6.4 mm, ) thread. By simply screwing the adapter into the tripod holder on the camera base, the photographer can now mount it as usual on his existing tripod. There is no need to buy a new tripod for the special camera, just adjust the mount with one of these small steel rings and off you go. These are sold in a package of 10 adapters, so you always have a spare part available if you lose one.
