Robert Dudley Design BL1 Black Table Lamp

Robert Dudley Best was born in 1892 in Birmingham to a family that owned the largest lamp factory in the world at the time: Best & Lloyd. Robert Dudley Best was very open to modernist ideas and studied design and interior architecture in Paris and Düsseldorf, among other places. Inspired by the Bauhaus and, of course, the lamps of Christian Dell, he designed his own lamp and convinced his father to produce it at Best & Lloyd. The lamp became particularly popular after it was placed on the desk of Prime Minister Winston Churchill in Whitehall.
