The radio allows streaming of internet radio stations via WLAN. Alternatively, it can be used to control Sonos speakers. It is also possible to play music files via Bluetooth from a mobile device. The radio is operated using the capacitive buttons on the control panel, requiring only a light touch on the symbols. Integration into the WLAN can be done easily using the WPS function. Additionally, setup can be conveniently performed with the Gira System 3000 app via a mobile device. The app also allows for all other settings of the radio. Up to 20 favorite stations can be saved, with the first three stations accessible directly via the favorite buttons on the radio. Other functions available through the app include selecting operating modes "Internet Radio" or "Sonos Control," customizing display content arrangement, sound settings, weather forecast, and alarm function. The radio can be turned on via the 230V auxiliary input, for example, with a light switch or motion detector in conjunction with room lighting. The radio is compactly housed in an in-wall unit and can thus be installed in a single device box. The speaker can be installed in combination with the radio or separately in another device box. Two speakers can be connected to the radio unit. The radio can operate in mono or stereo mode. In sleep mode, the radio automatically turns off 30 minutes after being switched on. The radio can also be used as an alarm clock. When combined with other electronic devices under a common cover, reception may be impaired.
