The quality of the sharpener, especially the knife, is decisive for optimum sharpening of wooden pins. Due to their robust and hard refills, pencils can be particularly slim and thinly sharpened. Coloured pencils are sharpened shorter and blunt due to their softer lead. In order to ensure optimum sharpening, we recommend replacing the sharpener from time to time, as the sharpener blade becomes blunt with time. This leads to increased peak breakage.
