The pencil is coated with environmentally friendly water-based lacquer, a technology that Faber-Castell was the first manufacturer to introduce. The lead is completely glued to the wooden casing and is therefore particularly resistant to breakage. The Grip 2001 pencil is available in 5 different degrees of hardness.
