Elite Screens

The Sable Frame series is a high-quality frame screen.

Together with the CineGrey 3D, this reference quality grey screen fabric designed for daylight screens is ideal for a framed screen. The front projection screen surface for environments with minimal control over room lighting provides ISF-certified image quality. It has been developed to improve image brightness, with accurate colour fidelity, and increase perceived contrast. Screens with CineGrey 3D, such as the Elite Screens Sable Frame, are suitable for living rooms and special home cinema rooms. When used with an ISF-certified home cinema projector, perfect picture quality is guaranteed. Compared to a matt white surface, the CineGrey 3D prevents "wash-out" of images when daylight cannot be controlled. Compared to CineGrey 5D, a screen with CineGrey 3D screen fabric offers the compromise of a projected image with a balanced colour temperature and contrast with slightly reduced image brightness (1.2 GAIN instead of 1.5 GAIN).

It also offers a flat spectral response for accurate colour balance in a dark home cinema for cineastes who value reference quality through ISF calibration. The CineGrey 3D is made for the next generation of high-performance 4K UHD projectors with HDR and DCI colour space.

The aluminium frame is flocked with velvet and flattened on the inside edges to prevent any shadows from being cast. As the fabric is firmly clamped in the frame, it offers optimum flatness. If space permits, a framed screen is the ideal solution for your home cinema.

Aspect ratio

Describes the format of image width to image height, with 16:9 being the common TV and office standard. Values such as 21:9 or 32:9 stand for extremely wide monitors, which often replace two old screens next to each other.

Gain factor

The light amplification factor, or gain factor, is an important factor when selecting a screen. Factor tells you something about the reflective properties. An ordinary white sheet of paper has a gain factor of about 1.0. It scatters the incident light homogeneously and diffusely in all directions. Thus it appears practically always equally bright, no matter from which angle you look at it.

Picture walls with a gain above 1.0 try to reflect a certain amount of light more specifically towards the audience, which usually sits axially in front of the picture. Developers achieve this through special surfaces and coatings. They take, so to speak, a small step towards the properties of a mirror. A gain of 2.0 describes a screen that - measured on axis - reflects twice as much light as a perfectly diffuse surface with 1.0. This is why we speak of amplification.
