Compared to lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries, LiFePO4 batteries offer an alternative when large discharge currents, short charging times, and high cycle stability with somewhat lower energy density are required. The IFR 16340 lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO4) features an elevated positive terminal and is unprotected.

High safety: Due to the solid electrolyte and cell chemistry, LiFePO4 cells are considered intrinsically safe. Areas of application include solar lamps, industry, model making, and diving lamps.

Suitable chargers include XTAR SP1, XTAR WP2H, XTAR VP2, and Nitecore D4.
