The off-axis characteristic of the MMC4015 Wide Cardioid microphone capsule is absolutely linear, a unique quality when it comes to authentic sound reproduction. Any leakage from off-axis sound sources is still a faithful reproduction of those sounds, only slightly diminished. Recording orchestras or other ensembles sometimes requires a compromise between capturing the room's reverb and achieving a more precise localization. When recording instruments with complex radiation patterns, the wide cardioid, which covers a larger sound angle, is an excellent choice. This is often the ideal microphone for recording pianos, guitars, marimbas, and drums, or as a spot microphone for groups in a symphony orchestra. It is also an outstanding microphone for voice, dubbing, or vocal recordings, as its enhanced fullness in the bass range suits many voices well.
