The 2028 features a supercardioid capsule with DPA's renowned linear off-axis behavior. This allows the microphone to achieve very high gain before feedback occurs, while also making it easier for sound engineers to manage bleed from nearby instruments. The 2028 captures these off-axis sounds in the most natural way. DPA has developed a brand new capsule specifically for the 2028, which is an integral part of the microphone. It is firmly attached to the shock mount and cannot be removed. The newly designed shock mount and pop filter were specifically created for the 2028. On the live stage, the 2028 delivers the same open and transparent sound as other DPA microphones.

In fact, it requires no (or very little) EQ to sound as if you are standing right next to the singer, listening to their performance. This allows the singer to use their voice as if they were not using a microphone at all, which reduces strain.
