With a gray filter ND1000x, the exposure time is extended by a factor of 1000. This corresponds to 10 f-stops - an exposure time of 1/1000s becomes 1s with the ND1000 gray filter attached. With particularly long exposure times, interesting shots can be made. Capture images with reduced depth of field without overexposure, or make people disappear from busy places.
